Brad Hompe has plenty of experience in the field of corrections, but at the heart of everything is the excellent education he was sure to obtain. After graduating high school, Brad attended Winona State University in Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice and psychology. He also went on to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA). While he was working in the corrections system, Brad Hompe also gained certification in law enforcement from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota. He even has a Firefighter I Certification that he earned from Southwest Technical College in Wisconsin.

During his time with Wisconsin Department of Corrections (WI-DOC), Brad Hompe has performed nearly every job there is to do in a prison environment. He has been a prison staff employee, as well as a jail inspector, an instructor and trainer And he also has worked his way up through the ranks, landing on every step along the way. He started his WI-DOC career as a corrections officer, then was promoted to sergeant, lieutenant and captain, before going on to become a unit manager and deputy warden and, eventually, warden.

Currently a Corrections Complaint Examiner and Investigator for WI-DOC, Brad Hompe’s experience with jail and prison operations is extensive. Over the years, he has come to be seen as a top-notch expert when it comes to prison operations, in part because of his experience in all aspects of jail and prison operations, including planning and design, and policy development in many areas, including use of force. He has also played a critical role in the development and implementation of training and evaluation and incident management programs. He started as a corrections officer, then became a sergeant, a lieutenant, a captain, and then a unit manager and deputy warden, until he achieved the status of prison warden. Brad is now serving as a Corrections Complaint Examiner and Investigator for WI-DOC because his experience with jail and prison operations is so extensive.
